Ready to play?
Québec, September 28, 2011 – Éditions Gladius International, a Quebec-based company renowned for having adapted several TV game shows for board games (La Classe de 5e , Le Cercle, Paquet Voleur, Pyramide, La Guerre des Clans) is welcoming a newcomer this year: Atomes Crochus. The show aired on V is known for its zany and festive atmosphere, two highly popular qualities for an evening of games with friends. “We began to receive requests for this game last year. After analyzing the show, we quickly saw the potential for a board game. The concept is so simple, it raises no questions and allows free reign. Everyone gets it first time around,” explained Marc Fournier, Research and Development Director at Éditions Gladius.
For this second adaptation, company management negotiated for a second time (after the Guerre des Clans) with FreemantleMedia, one of the most important players in the television industry, with shows like Family Feud, The Price is Right, America’s Got Talent, etc.
“Since the show is quite recent, we did not have access to a great deal of material and had to complete the game ourselves. We used brainstorming sessions to prepare sentence segments and word associations. Some of the sessions were hilarious! On several occasions we caught ourselves realizing, suddenly, that we were being paid to have fun,” Marc Fournier.
The game is now available in stores.
About Éditions Gladius: when business becomes a game
In 1991, after studying to become a wildlife conservation officer, Marc Fournier and two friends decided to create their own jobs by inventing a board game on the environment. Although unfamiliar with the world of business, but passionate about their enterprise, the three young entrepreneurs designed Nature Enjeux, a quiz game on wildlife, flora and the environment. Today, the Éditions Gladius International roster of products is more than impressive, with games starring well-known characters such as Dora the Explorer, Spider-Man, Caillou and many more. This Quebec company, employing some twenty people, takes great pride in producing all its games here. This management culture allows Gladius to stand apart from the competition. In 2011, the company plans to introduce more than 20 new games in stores.
